Zoom In 12: New Art Music from Lithuania (2018)

Posted on November 17, 2018

Tapisserie (2015) for Flute, Clarinet, Piano, Violin and Cello appears in Zoom In 12: New Art Music from Lithuania (2018). Recording: Court-Circuit ensemble conducted by David Hurpeau.

“Zoom in 12 is a promotional CD presenting the compositional music from Lithuania. The current compilation features seven live recordings from concerts and festivals, made between 2015 and 2017. The album is charged with intellectual intensity; it presents a meticulous ‘acupuncture’ of sound, embracing the clarity of the New Simplicity, the post-minimalist aesthetic, and the science of spectralism, and highlighting the individual practices within a diverse Lithuanian music landscape.”

REM (2014) for Alto Flute, Horn, Violin and Cello in Anthology of Lithuanian Art Music in the 21st Century (2017). Recording: Lithuanian Ensemble Network, conducted by Vykintas Baltakas.

“The album is curated by Frank J. Oteri who took on the task of listening to around 300 musical compositions written by various Lithuanian composers in the 21st century. 18 compositions were selected for a double CD. The names included in this edition are atypical and very different from the ones a local musicologist would have picked. Album consists not only of music but of digital sheet music too.”
