Justina’s composition Chartres (2012) for string orchestra will be featured in a contemporary dance and music project Present Time this Saturday in Klaipėda, Lithuania. It will be performed once again by Klaipėda Chamber Orchestra (artistic director, cellist Mindaugas Bačkus) in the postponed 45th Klaipėda Music Spring Festival. Dancers from the Šeiko Dance Company will embody the artistic vision of choreographers for 5 Lithuanian composer’s pieces. The project will be filmed by Lithuanian National Radio and Television.
‘A keyword could be synergy, as different parts come together in order to create something bigger than itself. The communication and action of these particles, is also felt in the musical work – Justina Repečkaitė’s Chartres, the name of which refers to the spectacular stained glass of the medieval Chartres cathedral near Paris. On the stage, the movements of the dancers’ bodies are like stained glass pieces changing and creating dance kaleidoscope.”
